CAREER IN MEDICINE

PERDANA UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Greetings, It gives us great pleasure to introduce ourselves from Perdana University. We are a newly established University working together with the Malaysian Government Public Private Partnership Unit. We are in the process of introducing ourselves to all potential Malaysian applicants who may be interested to pursue a career in medicine. In this aspect, we would appreciate if we could seek your assistance in disseminating some general information about our program to all Malaysian students in Canada. We have a brief write up below which may be useful for this purpose. On the other hand, if you require more details from us, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to answer any of your queries. Information Brief :  We are delighted to announce the opening of the Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine (PUGSOM) in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  PUGSOM is the first 4 year graduate level medical school in Malaysia based on the model of medical education in the United States.  A bachelors or graduate degree is required for admission. It is not too late to apply for this year, and there is no application fee.  The deadline date for applications is 30-June, and the first intake of students will be 12-September-2011,  According to U.S. News and World Report, Johns Hopkins has been rated as the top hospital in the United States for a remarkable 20 consecutive years.  The School of Medicine, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and School of Nursing are all among the leading institutions in their fields.  Noteworthy advancements in biomedical science and patient care are features that Johns Hopkins will bring to PUGSOM through its extensive resources and faculty.  The innovative Genes to Society (GTS) curriculum at Johns Hopkins is the basis of instruction at PUGSOM.  State-of the-art classrooms and technologies are specially designed for teaching and learning, research, and hands-on clinical experience. We plan to start with a small class, which will enable students to have exceptional mentoring.  Johns Hopkins is well known for the training of leaders in all areas of medicine, as is the expectation for PUGSOM.  In recognition of its commitment to attracting physicians, specialists and researchers – including Malaysian citizens studying and working abroad – the Malaysian government has made a generous offer of support to attract outstanding students to PUGSOM by providing funds covering annual tuition fees for selected Malaysian students.  We also welcome students, who are not citizens of Malaysia, to apply for admission. Please see the PUGSOM website for more information:  www.perdanauniversity.edu.my/pugsom We hope that you will consider PUGSOM for your medical education, and becoming a member of our first class.  PUGSOM presents a unique opportunity to lead the way in transforming health care in Malaysia.  If you have any questions about Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Thank you.
With best wishes,  David M. Trabilsy, Associate, Dean for Admissions
