Guide For New Students

To All New Students:

Welcome to Canada.  Wishing you all a new and exciting adventure. It’s a time to experience  new  happenings and challenges.  In the midst of your adventures, be prepared for all circumstances.  Firstly: Weather;  Beginning Autumn, the temperature drops , in winter it gets much worst where temperature drops to below freezing point. To survive the cold temperature, you need to get warm clothes , suitable socks and shoes as well as head cover and gloves. Some of you might need ear muffs. It is recommended that you visit the departmental  stores Walmart,  Zellers, Winners or the Thrift Stores  and Value Village. There is an assortment of designs, fibres  to choose from.  Buy a good one as it will last for the duration of your time here.  Do not be stingy, the warm clothes allowance is for this purpose. Spend it wisely.

Another thing to consider is the house agreement:  Please make sure you read your house rental  contract carefully especially the fine prints. As soon as you move into the house, take pictures of all the rooms and keep them in a file, you would need them when you vacate the house as proof that the house is still intact and clean. Please insist on a receipt of payment for every month rental that has been paid. Keep them in a file. It’s going to be your proof against the house owners. Keep the house clean, look after the house as though it belongs to you.

Finally, remember that your mission here is to return with an honours degree . The country will be investing a lot in you. Do not let the country down. It’s always good to be consistent  in your studies. Do not PROCRASTINATE as you would suffer later. Most first year students do not do well in their first year as they tend to be too relaxed.

Good luck, may you be successful in your mission here.

GOOD LUCK !
